20세기 가장 영향력 있고 중요한 인물로 뽑 히는 연극 전문가, 조지 그로토우스키는 다양 한 방법으로 현대 연극에 혁명을 일으켰다. 그로토우스키는 관객-배우와의 관계를 창건 한 공연 논리와 유럽 연극 전문가들의 방법을 바꿨다. 아마도 그의 업적 중 하나인 ‘가난한 연극’ 으로 가장 알려져 있을 것이다. 그로토 우스키의 연구는 공연 내용 안에서의 인간의 가능성을 장기적이고 조직적으로 탐구하며, 또한 연극의 기존 경계를 넘어 확장시킨다.
The Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski는 (이하 워크센터) 1986년에 이탈리아에 있는 Centro per la Sperimentazione e la Ricerca Teatrale of Pontedera (지금 은 Fondazione pontedera Teatro로 불 리고 있고, Roberto Bacci 와 Carla Pollastrelli의 감독 아래에 있다.) 의 초 대로부터 발견되었다. 워크센터에서 그 로토우스키는 1999년 그가 죽기 전까지 13년 동안 ‘수단으로서의 예술’이라고 알려진 “공연 연구” 라는 하나의 라인을 발전시켰다.

이 워크센터에서 2014년 모든 나라의 아티스트를 대상으로 워크샵을 연다.

이번 여름 있었던 인텐시브 워크샵 참가자들로 부터의 많은 긴 텀 동안의 워크샵 요청으로, 저희는 이번에 워크센터 역사 상 처음으로, 4주의 마스터 코스 워크샵을 연다는 것을 기쁘게 공지합니다. 이 워크샵은 토마스 리차드 Thomas Richards에 의해 이끌어 지며, 이 마스터 코스는 11월 10일부터 12월 5일까지, 이태리 토스카나에 위치한 폰테데라에서 (Pontedera, Toascana, Italy) 이루어 집니다. 이 코스는 좀 더 연장된 기간 동안 워크센터에서 작업 하길 원하는 예술가들에게 전례 없는 입구가 될 것입니다. 저희는 관심 있는 참가자들이 바쁜 일정에 있을 것을 이해하기 때문에, 참가자들이 다양한 기간에 참여할 수 있는 방식으로 코스를 설계 했습니다 : 전체 4 주, 3 주, 2 주, 또는 1주. 국제 예술가들의 창의적이고 역동적인 흐름은 작업이 한달 내내 진행되고 발전됨에 따라 생성되어질 것입니다.
이 마스터 과정은 배우들, 감독과 그리고 개인적으로 공연예술에 실질적 지식을 얻고자 하는 개인에게도 특별한 기회입니다. 이 과정은 지속적이고 헌신적인 작업, - 각 참가자들이 과정에 가져온 창의적 제안들- 을 통해 각 참가자의 고유 한 잠재력을 발굴하고 구체화하도록 돕기 위해 노력합니다. 과정 중 초점은 작업에서의 연출 능력, 몽타주 기법, 연출적 면밀함, 체력 훈련에 뿐만 아니라 집중 정밀도와 유기성, 전통과 개별 작업, 의식과 드라마 사이의 관계에 맞춰질 것입니다.
참가자는 또한 아프리카와 아프리카- 카리브해 전통에서 오는 전통노래에 기반을 두고 작업하는 세션에 참여할 것 이며, 따라서 워크센터가 30년 가까이 발전시켜온 노래와 액션에 기반을 둔 작업 접근법을 탐구하게 될 것입니다. 또한, 이 과정은 워크센터 공연 작품들로 만들어진 영상 기록 상영을 포함하고 있으며, 이 영상기록 상영은 토마스 리차드, 그리고 모든 마스터 과정에 그를 돕게 될 “수단으로서 예술팀- The Focused Research Team” 에 의해 논의 되어 지고, 동반되어 질 것 입니다.

Workcenter Four Week Master Course: November 10 to December 5, 2014
After the great number of requests we received for long-term courses following this year's Summer Intensive Program, we are pleased to announce that for the first time in Workcenter history, we will host a Four Week Master Course, led by Thomas Richards. The Master Course will take place between November 10 and December 5 in Pontedera, Tuscany, Italy. The Course will provide an unprecedented opening to artists to study at the Workcenter for an extended period of time. We understand that those interested are probably subject to busy schedules, so we have designed the Course in such a way that participants may take part for varying durations: either for the full four weeks, for three weeks, two weeks, or one. A creative and dynamic flow of international artists will be generated as the work makes head way and develops throughout the month.
This Master Course is an exceptional opportunity for actors, directors and individuals interested in advancing in their practical knowledge of the performing arts. The Course will strive to unearth each participant's unique potentialities and help them to refine, through persistent and dedicated work, the creative propositions brought by each participant into the Course. Focus will be given to work on the relations between precision and organicity, tradition and individual work, ritual and drama, concentrating as well on directing capacities, montage techniques, dramaturgical elaboration, as well as physical training. Participants will also take part in sessions dedicated to work on songs of tradition coming from African and Afro-Caribbean traditions, and thus explore an approach to work on song and action that has been developing at the Workcenter for close to thirty years. As well, the Course will include the viewing of film documentations made on Workcenter performance opuses, which will be accompanied by discussions with Mr. Richards and the Focused Research Team in Art as Vehicle, who will assist him throughout the Master Course.
